Remembering Prom~Manaders

Sixty years ago, in 1952,   Prom ~ Manaders, a Lexington Teen Organization was conceived, and it lasted until 1970.  Mr. and Mrs. William Maloney and Mr. and Mrs. Colby Kelly were its sponsors and chaperones.  It was an organization for Lexington teens that ran dances at the high school, during every LHS football weekend in the fall.  They also had an annual "School's Out" tennis court dance, a New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance,  and additionally hosted their famous semi- formal yearly Birthday Ball.  In 1962, they celebrated 10 years by having Lester Lanin and his Orchestra!  They raised funds for charity and provided fun times for all.

Starting in 1953, PM crowned a Queen and her court of four at the Birthday Ball.   In 1959, the Queen became known as Lady Lexington. These young ladies, usually LHS Juniors and Seniors, led the Patriot’s Day afternoon parade on a float, decorated by Prom-Manader-classmates… festooned with handmade Kleenex carnations! Lady Lexington and her court were special guests upon the Parade’s  Reviewing Stand.  PM was part of a wonderful era in Lexington youth history; 2012 marks the 60th year since it was created.

Come celebrate with past PM members, we’ll have a special Multi-Media Program of nostalgia and the sharing of sweet memories and old stories ~ Hors d' Oeuvres ~ DJ, and Cash Bar (Sorry,  NO tickets can be sold at the Door; space is limited.) $40 per person. Registrants will have a pre-made name tag waiting for them.

Connect with old friends for dinner on your own, and then come on over to the party.  Prom-Manaders Info Pages are also on FaceBook.  See Ann Connell Bergin’s page at
